.You could look it up, but if memory serves "paddy" is not incorrect because Padraic (or something similar) is an Irish spelling of Patrick. Basically, that would make either correct/okay. I use "paddy" most often, myself.

Happy St.Paddy's/Patty's/Patrick's Day!

The name Patrick in Ireland is always abbreviated to Paddy. NEVER is it Patty.

Though pronounced virtually the same, Patty is a feminine name. Paddy is always referring to a man.

Lots of songs and titles use Paddy. Never in all the Irish culture I've experienced have I ever seen Patty used.

Use Paddy unless you want to make St. Patrick look like a woman.

In Ireland (where I'm from and have lived for most of my life) it's definitely St Paddy's Day. You would get very strange looks if you called it St Patty's Day. Some people also call it St Pat's (without the word Day) but not many. Go with St Paddy's Day if you want to be authentically Irish :)

In Ireland we say St. Paddy's day/St. Patricks day. Patty is a womans nickname. However in America I believe St. Patty is more common, but if you said it in Ireland you'd get a weird look.

In Ireland it is known as PaDDy's Day.

Patrick in Irish is Pádraig which is abbreviated to Paddy.

PaTTy is a woman's name and if you called an Irishman with the name Patrick, Patty he would not be at all impressed.

Paddy is the authentic Irish version.

Never heard it abbreviated - it's always St Patrick's Day here.

Pádraig is the Gaelic (Irish) spelling for Patrick so the shortened version/nickname would be PADDY. However, in America its Pat...never heard an American Male called Patty (w/out it causing a fight, lol).

It's St. Patrick's Day, "Paddy" is a derogatory term (Paddy, in British English, slang (often derogatory) for an Irishman) and saying Patty is just being lazy. Never mind that it is a saint that is being referred to. I'd like to see how people would react to someone saying St. Tony or St. Joey.

Happy St. Patrick's Day or else people will think you are wierd

abbreviated, it can be Saint Pat's Day
